The Extremadura Regional Government is preparing its 2026 budget and calls for "responsibility" from the political parties.

The Regional Government of Extremadura is preparing the draft General Budget for the Autonomous Community for 2026, "with the hope that the various political groups will be responsible" and that it will be approved.
In this way, the regional government will be able to "move forward next year in what we are doing, which is to provide the citizens of Extremadura with the same opportunities and services that exist in the rest of the country," and to do so "with the difficulty that we often do not have adequate funding to do so."
This was announced by the Minister of Finance and Public Administration and new spokesperson for the Regional Government of Extremadura, Elena Manzano, at a press conference this Tuesday in Mérida, in which she highlighted the current situation as " key in terms of regional financing ," after which she emphasized the need for "the State to assume the powers it has in this area to guarantee the financial sufficiency of all regions and not focus solely on one territory," she said.
From Extremadura, they have "fought from the very beginning to make it happen," Manzano emphasized, adding that they will continue to fight in this regard, since "the only truly important thing is that the citizens of Extremadura receive public services that are up to the standard and quality our region deserves," he reaffirmed.
DialogueOn another note, in response to questions from journalists about the opposition's criticism of the Extremadura Regional Government's lack of dialogue, the new spokesperson for the regional government expressed her "utmost respect" for the Extremadura Assembly , asserting that they had spoken "from the very beginning about the various reforms or major reforms we wanted to undertake."
Thus, Elena Manzano expressed her confidence that "now, out of responsibility," political groups "will stop looking at the acronyms and focus on what's important , which is analyzing the measures" and their impact on the region's growth, and "seeing that our fiscal policy works."
In this regard, the Minister of Finance has stated that when preparing the budget, the Regional Government of Extremadura will consider the political groups "if they truly put on the table the importance of improving people's lives."
As he argued, "there has been dialogue from the very beginning," although "there has not been understanding," since, in his opinion, some parties' interests are not in Extremadura, "but rather other interests derived from partisan struggles."
Highlights the "progress in the provision of services"Finally, regarding the assessment of the political year now drawing to a close, the spokesperson for the Regional Government emphasized that "the key factor in these two years has been the progress in the provision of quality public services ," and that they have had "the budgetary reinforcement that they often lacked." She also highlighted the "progress in healthcare and education."
She also alluded to the tax cuts, which have allowed us to "optimize these resources and return to Extremadura families what they have worked so hard to earn," after which the Minister of Finance emphasized that " 120 million euros have already been returned to the people of Extremadura , greater funding than ever for quality and guaranteed public services, greater justice and equality," she said.
He explained that this year the regional government has "overcome the technical difficulties that could arise from not having a budget" for 2025, after which he emphasized that they are "executing the largest budget in the region's history."
