What were the best-selling appliances in Mendoza due to the cold wave?

A well-known Mendoza business reported an increase in sales starting Saturday and continuing into Monday morning.

The arrival of sub-zero temperatures in the province, with snow and ice on the plains, prompted many Mendoza residents to go out in search of appliances to better heat their homes.

Among the most popular were fan heaters and electric heaters ; although some also opted for a hot-and-cold air conditioner . Carafe heaters and traditional gas heaters were also highly sought after.

Although meteorologists had been warning that snow was expected in the city on Sunday and sub-zero temperatures on Monday , what was initially expected to be -4º turned into -7º in Greater Mendoza.

Leo Ruiz, from Casa Reig , explained that some were forward-thinking and went to look for "reinforcement" to heat their homes on Saturday, while others went in the early hours of today.

The most sought-after items, he explained, were fan heaters and electric heaters , due to their more affordable prices compared to other options. To put it simply, an affordable fan heater can be purchased for $25,000—which comes to $19,500 with a cash discount—or for around $30,000 for a brand-name heater.

While the price of an electric stove starts at $51,000, it can be financed in six installments of $8,400 with a credit card or with the credit offered by the appliance retailer.

Another option is gas stoves , which can be purchased for $190,000 or six installments of $32,000. The best-selling model, Ruiz said, has 2,800 calories.

Of course, sales of 3,000- and 5,000-calorie gas heaters also increased. He explained that the most commonly used type is the one without an external outlet, and its price starts at $230,000.

And while they're sold year-round, there was a slight increase in searches for hot-and-cold air conditioners . In this case, a 3,000-calorie inverter model starts at $745,000 or six installments of $140,000 (with the option to pay in 12 months).

Regarding the most popular payment options, Ruiz noted that debit and bank transfer, which are considered cash payments, predominate, followed by home credit, which offers a 10% discount off the list price when paid in six installments.
