A restaurant in Sant Adrià has been closed due to a salmonella outbreak affecting around twenty people.

The Sant Adrià de Besòs City Council (Barcelonès Nord) has closed a restaurant in the town as a precautionary measure following a suspected outbreak of salmonella that has affected several people. The council raised the alarm with the Catalan Public Health Agency, which endorsed the closure in a report.

Local police closed the establishment on Saturday after at least twenty people were poisoned, some of whom were hospitalized, including a five-year-old boy who has been hospitalized in Sant Joan de Déu since Wednesday.

"He was in a lot of pain, going to the bathroom every half hour or every hour, screaming, and it hurt a lot," the baby's father explains in the diary. Doctors confirmed that his colon and intestines were inflamed, and tests detected the presence of salmonella.

The city council announced the closure this Sunday and explained that it is in constant communication with health authorities and those affected for follow-up. Established action protocols are being implemented, according to the City Council.
