A new government estimate shows that nearly 1 in 3 U.S. teens has prediabetes, putting them at risk for type 2 diabetes and other serious health problems.
In a new analysis, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says about 8.4 million children ages 12 to 17 were prediabetic in 2023. That's far higher than the 18 percent estimate published in a 2020 scientific paper, The Associated Press reported.
