Councilors were not informed about the presence of military personnel on the INE General Council: Rivera

MEXICO CITY (apro).- Jaime Rivera, a member of the National Electoral Institute (INE), asserted that he and his colleagues were not “consulted or informed” about the presence of military personnel at the General Council session, which the autonomous body will hold this Sunday, the day of the judicial elections.
In response to a message from former council member Alfredo Figueroa Fernández, who pointed out three men in military uniforms in the area designated for the INE's Executive Secretariat staff, Rivera acknowledged that "indeed, something like this had never happened in the General Council chambers."
In his post on X, former councilor Figueroa denounced that "his presence in the area designated for the executive secretariat staff is a symbol, but above all, a message that the INE has ceased to be autonomous and independent."
