Prince Royce: Latinos are going through a very difficult time.

Dominican-born singer Prince Royce said Saturday that Latinos are living through "a very difficult time" amid protests in Los Angeles ( United States ) following the raids and tightening of immigration measures implemented by President Donald Trump .

"It's a very sad thing that's happening in the world in general today. A country like the United States has been built mostly by immigrants , we're here to support them, to pray for those families who are especially innocent," the singer explained in an interview with EFE, for his new album , Eterno.

The statements by the singer of hits such as Darte un beso, Te espero or Carita de inocente , occur in the midst of protests against immigration raids that began in Los Angeles ( California ), where a nighttime curfew has been declared in an attempt by local authorities to stop the riots, and have spread to other large cities such as New York and Chicago .

Migrant rights organizations have called for a day of protests in more than 1,800 U.S. cities this Saturday in response to the raids and military presence implemented by Trump .

Royce emphasized the importance of artists using social media to raise awareness of the issue and of citizens seeking accurate information and "information about the rights each individual has."

The New Yorker released his latest album on May 16, in which he adapted English-language music classics such as "I Want It That Way" and "Killing Me Softly" to the Dominican genre .

The singer explained that the album's goal was to merge "cultures, English, Spanish, generations, to introduce songs from the past to today's world and bring it to bachata ."

Regarding the possibility of other artists covering his hits, he stated that he would love to hear his lyrics in another voice, in another genre , "and see how they do it," something he had never thought about before recording this album.

After taking bachata around the world , Royce explained that he still has " countries to visit" and take his music to.

"There are collaborations that can be invented and genres that can be fused with bachata and other different rhythms," he explained, adding that his intention is to "continue innovating and also enjoying every moment."

  • After collaborating with artists like Shakira , Bad Bunny , and Maná, the son of Dominican parents confessed, laughing, that making a song with Britney Spears "would be something cool , something crazy."

15 years since the release of his first album , Royce explained that these years on stage have made him " mature as a man, as a person, as a singer , as a composer , in his voice, in everything."

"The truth is that I had a great time, incredible ," he shared.
