Former Mayor Hanoi Sánchez is the new consul of Sao Paulo

By decree number 330-25, President Luis Abinader appointed the former mayor of San Juan de la Maguana, Hanoi Sánchez , as the new consul of Sao Paulo , Brazil.
On her X account, Sánchez expressed her gratitude to the president for trusting her "to continue as a public servant of our country."
He also pledged to work with a vocation for service and to give his all : "We firmly commit ourselves to giving our best with faith, a vocation for service , and a firm social commitment."
By decree number 330-25 we have been appointed Consul General of the Dominican Republic in Sao Paulo, Federative Republic of Brazil.

- Sánchez led the municipal government for 18 consecutive years, from 2006 to 2024.
- In the elections of February 18 , 2024, he lost to the candidate of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), Lenin de la Rosa.
- Sánchez was a longtime member of the PLD until he resigned in 2019 and joined the Fuerza del Pueblo (FP) party, where he remained for approximately a year.
- He later joined the ruling party, the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM).
