Police chief's car shot in Cuauhtémoc; mayor files complaint

Police chief's car shot in Cuauhtémoc; mayor files complaint

The mayor of Cuauhtémoc, Alessandra Rojo de la Vega, reported a shooting attack on the vehicle of the chief of the Auxiliary Police. "We're touching on corrupt interests," she stated. Learn the details of the attack.

Political and security tensions in the Cuauhtémoc municipality escalated to a new level. Mayor Alessandra Rojo de la Vega publicly denounced an armed attack on the vehicle of the district's Auxiliary Police chief, an incident she described as retaliation for combating criminal interests.

The attack, which occurred near the mayor's office, has sparked a strong political backlash and has triggered an investigation by the Mexico City Attorney General's Office (FGJCDMX) to find those responsible.

The Attack: Nine Shots Fired Against the Authority

According to Rojo de la Vega's complaint, a gunman fired at least nine shots at the Auxiliary Police (PA) truck assigned to the commander of Sector 64 Orion, serial number MX-219-Z1. Images shared by the officer herself show multiple bullet holes in the sides and rear of the vehicle, as well as a shattered window.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident. The attack is perceived not only as an act of violence, but also as a direct message of intimidation to the new mayoral administration.

Rojo de la Vega's Reaction: "We Are Touching on Rotten Interests"

The mayor's response was immediate and forceful. Through her social media channels, she issued a defiant message to the masterminds and perpetrators of the attack.

"A coward fired nine shots at the vehicle of our Auxiliary Police Chief in Cuauhtémoc. We're touching corrupt interests. But let it be clear: they won't bend us. There are more of us who want a safe Cuauhtémoc. And we won't stop," Rojo de la Vega posted.

The official demanded that the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) and the capital's Attorney General's Office conduct a thorough investigation to clarify the events and bring those responsible to justice. This event revives memories of the attack she suffered during the election campaign, reinforcing the perception that her fight against crime in the district generates violent reactions.

Ongoing Research and the Security Context

The SSC reported that, after receiving the report, it began analyzing video surveillance cameras in the area to identify the attackers' escape route and determine the exact sequence of events. Additionally, the corporation's General Directorate of Internal Affairs has opened its own investigation.

This attack comes as part of a security strategy the mayor has promoted in coordination with neighboring districts, such as Miguel Hidalgo, aimed at head-on combating the criminal groups operating in the area. The attack on the police chief's vehicle is interpreted by analysts and his own team as evidence that these strategies are affecting the power structures of organized crime in one of the capital's most complex areas.
