Senators have increased their salaries and will earn around 9.5 million per month.

On March 31, the senators ' salaries were unfrozen, and members of the Senate received a significant raise, which will continue to increase. A new collective bargaining agreement was reached with Congressional employees on Tuesday, and their salaries will be around 9.5 million pesos per month, according to estimates.

The impact on provincial representatives' salaries is due to the fact that in April 2024 they voted for a raise, by a show of hands and without debate, which included a clause tying the body's salary increase to agreements reached by legislative employees. This was endorsed by the presidents of both chambers, Martín Menem and Victoria Villarruel , who signed the 1.3 percent salary increase for legislative employees for March, April, and May with unions on Tuesday.

Since December of last year, Villarruel has been trying unsuccessfully to stop the unfreezing and disengagement. The head of the Upper House tried to sneak the issue into the December 12 session, when Edgardo Kueider was expelled, but she failed to reach consensus with the bloc leaders because the chamber was opening, no less, to eject a member.

It's worth noting that Villarruel extended Decree 27/24, which freezes senators' salaries, twice, and the senators had until April of this year to decide whether or not to extend the freeze. According to the recent collective bargaining agreement, their salaries will increase by more than 4% and will exceed $9,500,000 pesos, with retroactive increases of 1.3% for March, April, and May. It should be noted that until a few weeks ago, legislators in the Upper House received around $9,000,000 pesos, taking into account the March unfreeze.

Since the issue wasn't addressed and the government didn't issue a decree reversing the measure, everything remained as specified in the regulations, and they saw a considerable increase after almost a year of freezing, something the libertarians attempted to do in 2025, but their move failed.
