Gabriela Baigún denied that the attack on Cristina Kirchner was a self-inflicted attack and called the story "nonsense."

Attorney General Gabriela Baigún , who is overseeing the case of the attack on Cristina Kirchner , categorically rejected the story of a self-inflicted attack. The theory, which was allegedly promoted by former congressman Gerardo Milman , was publicly denied by the prosecutor, who clarified that the case is already in court, with defendants prosecuted.

In a television interview, Baigún stated that "it's nonsense to say it was a self-inflicted attack." This statement came after journalists Luis Majul and Esteban Trebucq reported that Milman planned to file a complaint with Judge María Eugenia Capuchetti to support this hypothesis.

The 65-year-old prosecutor asked to go on air to clarify the status of the judicial process. "I don't know Milman, but he's a defendant in the case; he's not a witness. And Judge Capuchetti will decide whether he will be heard or not," she stated. She added that this theory "undermines the intelligence of all of us working on the case."

Baigún explained that prosecutor Carlos Rívolo was the one who closed the investigation phase and decided to refer the case to trial. Capuchetti, in turn, approved that decision. "The trial is being held once a week, with a panel composed of three judges," the prosecutor explained.

Among the defendants are Fernando Sabag Montiel and Brenda Uliarte , who are accused of carrying out the failed attack on September 1, 2022. According to Baigún, their defense attorneys are trying to develop strategies to reduce their responsibility.

Milman's mention arose from the testimony of a witness who heard him say, in a Buenos Aires cafe, days before the incident: "When they kill her, I'll be on my way to the coast." The former congressman was accompanied by two advisors, whose cell phones were formatted before being examined.

That detail generated controversy, but the prosecutor clarified that there is no concrete evidence to support the idea of a self-inflicted attack . "The entire procedure was carried out in accordance with the law. There was professional work from the beginning of the investigation until the trial," she stated.

For Gabriela Baigún , revisiting that version only seeks to discredit the case. “To claim now that it was a self-inflicted attack is to ignore the work of the entire justice system. It's simply absurd,” she concluded.
