A 37-year-old boxer dies after losing a fight; he was found dead in his hotel room.

Pedro Antonio Rodríguez, a 37-year-old Mexican boxer, died this Saturday just hours after losing a bout against Phillip Vela in Phoenix, Arizona. After the fight, the athlete returned to his hotel room, where he was found dead the following morning.
According to Marca , the boxer had made plans to have dinner after the boxing evening organized by Del Sol Boxing Promotions and featuring the clash between Rodriguez and Vela, but he did not leave the hotel, and his body was found by hotel workers several hours later , as he had not responded to the call of a vehicle that was supposed to take him to the airport.
" He called me when his fight was over, when the event was over and he went to the hotel , he spoke to me, we made a video call. He told me he was going out to buy some dinner and that he would be back because at 3:30 they were going to pick them up to take them to the airport. That was the only thing I spoke to him about," his wife explained after learning of the Mexican's death.
Reactions from the boxing world were swift, as Phillip Vela, his last rival, was one of the first to comment on his death: "Truly, heartbroken to hear this news. Grateful to have shared the ring with Pedro for six rounds ."
Promoter Del Sol Boxing extended its condolences: "The Del Sol Boxing family is deeply saddened by the passing of Pedro Antonio Rodríguez. Our hearts and thoughts are with his loved ones. Out of respect for his family, we ask that you join us as we wait for local authorities to complete their work and investigation ," the statement said.
