Tour de France terror: 21-year-old spectator stabs riot police officer in the chest

During the fourth stage of the Tour de France, held this Tuesday with the finish in Rouen, there were moments of high tension and terror. A 21-year-old man was shot by police after threatening several people and stabbing a riot police officer.

According to Le Parisien and CyclingNews , the young man threatened several spectators with a knife. As he fled, he was located by authorities and stabbed one of them in the chest , who escaped further injury "thanks to his chest protector," according to prosecutor Sébastien Gallois.

"The riot police officer was unharmed. Seeing his colleague being attacked, another riot police officer opened fire ," the case manager added, according to several French media outlets.

The terrifying moments occurred approximately two hours before Tadej Pogacar made history by celebrating his 100th victory after crossing the finish line in Rouen.

Following the incident, which fortunately resulted in no serious injuries or deaths, the Tour de France organizers have reinforced security measures .
