A man accused of raping a CCH Vallejo student more than seven years ago has been arrested in Tulum.

PLAYA DEL CARMEN, Q. Roo (apro).- After spending more than seven years in hiding, a man accused of aggravated rape against an underage student at CCH Vallejo was arrested in the exclusive Aldea Zamá residential area in Tulum, where he had been hiding.
This was achieved thanks to an investigative effort between local prosecutors and the Mexico City Attorney General's Office, who located David "N" in the whereabouts, the Quintana Roo Attorney General's Office reported.
After his capture, he was taken to Cancún International Airport for transfer to the nation's capital, where he was placed at the disposal of a supervisory judge who requested his release.
The incidents for which David "N." is accused occurred on February 12, 2018, at a school located in the Magdalena de las Salinas neighborhood, Gustavo A. Madero borough. The accused worked at the Cibarium cafeteria, located inside the school where, according to witness accounts, the sexual assault took place.
In 2018, Proceso published this case. According to reports, after committing the crime, the man was arrested, although he was released hours later.
The supervisory judge determined that his arrest was not in accordance with the law, as it did not occur in flagrante delicto, but rather several hours later.
Students at the school said that administrators did not immediately allow police entry, arguing that it would violate the institution's autonomy.
Once released, he fled, despite the fact that legal proceedings had already been initiated against him.
At the time of the attack, according to Proceso, David "N." was 21 years old and was apparently related to one of the owners of the Cibarium coffee shop concessionaire, which operates at several locations.
