Javier Mier assures that Milito was seduced by the formation of the squad together.

Javier Mier assures that Milito was seduced by the formation of the squad together.

With the arrival of Gabriel Milito to the Chivas bench, Guadalajara's sporting director, Javier Mier , stated that the Argentine coach was attracted by the possibility of putting together a team together. Unlike what happened in other processes, now both parties will be able to begin the project together.

“Part of the conversations Gabi and I had for a while was that he was attracted to the idea of putting the team together, that we could start the project by putting it together in such a way. And of course, we said it here, we're looking for those characteristics and, as a club, we're going to give them the tools so we can reach the levels we're talking about, where Chivas should be. We'll obviously be working on the characteristics and the players during this time, and when they can be finalized, we'll let you know,” he noted.

Likewise, the red-and-white sporting director acknowledged that, in the planning stages , they had planned to have the coach ready for Chivas days in advance . However, he emphasized that the wait was worth it because they are convinced of the decision they made.

"A few weeks ago, I sat down and said I wanted to announce the coach last week, and I would have loved for it to be this way, but these days when it didn't happen also give us the opportunity to be here today with Gabriel, and it was worth it. He's responsible for this situation because of some things that happened along the way, but well, we had to make that decision, convinced of Gabriel's profile, and today we're here very happy, convinced we can build something together.

"What happened in these five weeks, ultimately, is in the past, and now we have to focus and give all our attention to what we can control, which is what's to come. As he said, yes, I would have loved to, but it also gave us the opportunity to align everything so that today we're both sitting here, announcing this new Chivas project," he added.

In the end, he ruled out Gabriel Milito as a second option to take over the Chivas bench , as they had held talks with the coach three or four weeks before, so they were always convinced that he could lead the Guadalajara project.

“Gabriel and I have been talking for three or four weeks. We talked and made progress on many topics. He convinced us from day one. There was good chemistry, as he said. We shared football situations, we shared football concepts, analysis of the squad, players who could come in. And, from the beginning, I can tell you, I'm happy, I'm happy on a personal level that Gabriel is here by my side.”

"I know the institution is also happy because we have an extraordinary coach. And well, it will be as we always say: we have to deliver results and, day in and day out, show the seal of what he wants as an institution and what we also want as a project," he concluded.
