Jose Mourinho was accused of racism after the Turkish classic between Galatasaray and Fenerbahce

According to Mauro Icardi's club officials, Jose Mourinho claimed that the home fans were "jumping like monkeys" after the 0-0 draw in the derby.
Turkish Premier League side Galatasaray have accused Fenerbahce coach Jose Mourinho of making "racist remarks" against the Turkish people after the derby and say they intend to initiate tough criminal proceedings against the Portuguese coach.
Officials at the league leaders in the Eurasian country said they would also lodge complaints with governing bodies UEFA and FIFA over the "derogatory" comments they said were made after Monday's 0-0 draw between the top two teams.

After the match, the former Chelsea, Manchester United, Tottenham and Real Madrid manager commented on the behaviour of Galatasaray's bench, saying they were "jumping around like monkeys" after a first-half foul.
Mourinho also welcomed the decision to appoint Slovenian referee Slavko Vincic to officiate the match, saying it would have been a "disaster" if the match had been officiated by a Turkish referee.

Let us remember that this referee officiated last season's Champions League final and was selected by the Turkish Football Federation following several recent controversies.
Galatasaray did not sit idly by in the face of the Portuguese's attitude and took to their official social media to begin a statement, where they expressed their pain and deep repudiation of Mourinho's comments.
"We formally declare our intention to initiate criminal proceedings for the racist statements made by José Mourinho and will file official complaints accordingly with UEFA and FIFA," Mauro Icardi's team said in a statement posted on their X account (formerly Twitter).

He also claimed that Mourinho had “ constantly made derogatory statements against the Turkish people ” since taking over as Fenerbahce coach in June 2024. And that this “ speech went from mere immoral comments to clearly inhuman rhetoric ”.
