Madrid's bad losers

The defeat didn't sit well with Real Madrid , with three of their players sent off: Rüdiger, Lucas Vázquez, and Bellingham. The most serious case was that of the German center-back, who threw an object at referee De Burgos Bengoetxea that missed him, and he didn't throw a bag of ice cubes at him, nor did he go after it because several of his teammates stopped him.
The Basque referee's report describes the reason for the center-back's red card as follows: "He was sent off for throwing an object from the technical area that missed me. After being shown the red card, he had to be restrained by several members of the coaching staff, displaying an aggressive attitude," the report reads.

According to Article 101 of the Federation's Disciplinary Code (involving minor violence towards the referees. Grabbing, pushing, or shaking, or generally involving other attitudes towards the referees that, even if they are only mildly violent, do not demonstrate aggressive intent on the part of the referee, will result in a suspension of four to twelve matches). The normal sanction in this case would be a minimum of eight matches, so Rüdiger would already miss the remaining five matches of the League and the first three of the next championship.
The German apologized yesterday on social media: "There's no excuse for my behavior last night. I'm very sorry, and I'm sorry to the referee. We played a very good game from the second half on. After 111 minutes, I couldn't help my team anymore, and before the final whistle, I made a mistake."
In the cases of Bellingham and Lucas Vázquez, the punishment could be considerably less, according to the report. De Burgos writes that the Galician player received a straight red card "for protesting one of our decisions, entering the field of play several meters, making gestures of disagreement." De Bellingham says that "he went towards our position in an aggressive attitude, having to be restrained by his teammates."

If the sanction is less than four matches, those punished will serve it in the next Cup.
In Bellingham's case, the report doesn't reflect that he had already had a scuffle with De Burgos Bengoetxea in the changing room tunnel at halftime. The player yelled at him in English: "Everything goes to them. Everything that's 50/50 goes to them..."
Earlier, on the pitch and according to TV footage, the Englishman shouted at the fourth official from the touchline, "Why? Why? That's so crazy. Fuck off." He had already been sent off with a straight red card for the same remark at El Sadar in Pamplona.
Movistar's cameras also caught two other Real Madrid players, Dani Carvajal and Éder Militão, shouting at the referee from the stands about their injuries. The loudest shout was the Leganés full-back and team captain, who can be heard saying: "You nerve! Shit! And that Lamine? Stop right there."
Some Real Madrid players took to social media yesterday to apologize for the defeat in front of their fans. The most notable example was Tchouaméni's: "They celebrate our defeats as if we were never going to win again. We will be back," he wrote. Courtois's tweet was a bit longer: "Very proud of my teammates and how we fought for a victory that never came. Sad and responsible, but convinced that we will rise again." "We stood up, but it wasn't to be," wrote Raúl Asencio.
