Mexican Andrés Muñoz was named to the American League All-Star Game and, to seal the deal, earned his 21st save with Seattle, which blanked the Pittsburgh Pirates 1-0 for the third consecutive game.

The Mexican-Cuban also contributed to the Mariners' cause, hitting another home run for the Mariners. The Mexican slugger hit a home run to reach his 14th of the season and his sixth in seven games. This time, he took advantage of a low pitch in the sixth inning from reliever Carmen Mlodzinski (2-6); in addition to the run, he also drove in another for Seattle.

Pittsburgh was defeated 6-0 on Friday and 1-0 on Saturday during their scoreless weekend in Seattle. Before making the trip, the Pirates blanked St. Louis three straight times at home. The streak of playing in six consecutive shutouts is tied for the longest in major league history.

Muñoz worked the ninth inning for his 21st save, one shy of his career high. It was a notable appearance as he was named to the All-Star Game for the second consecutive year in Atlanta on July 15 at the home of the Braves.

The closer is joined by two other Mexicans in the midseason classic: Tijuana natives Alejandro Kirk of the Blue Jays and Jonathan Aranda of Tampa Bay.

Kirk had a one-hit walk in three at-bats as Toronto secured its eighth consecutive victory, its longest streak of the season, with a 3-2 score over the Los Angeles Angels.

The AL East-leading Blue Jays improved to 52-38, sweeping a home series of seven or more games for the first time since 1994 and the second time in franchise history.

For his part, Aranda drove in two runs on Sunday and went 3-for-5 in the Tampa Bay Rays' 7-5 victory over the Minnesota Twins, thus avoiding a three-game sweep.

Meanwhile, Aaron Judge hit his 33rd home run, left fielder Cody Bellinger started a crucial double play and the New York Yankees snapped a six-game losing streak by beating the Mets 6-4 to avoid a Subway Series sweep.

Max Fried (11-2) improved to 9-1 in 12 starts following Yankees losses after Judge gave him a 5-0 lead with a two-run homer in the fifth inning off Brandon Waddell, part of a three-RBI day for Judge.

The Yankees, who lost 16 of 22 games and shed their AL East lead, matched their longest losing streak. But Sunday's win ended the Mets' four-game winning streak.

Devin Williams pitched a perfect ninth for his 12th save in 13 opportunities. Mets manager Carlos Mendoza was ejected by home plate umpire John Bacon after a pair of called strikes on Luis Torrens to start the inning, the first appearing to be out and the second appearing to be low.

Devils fall in third game against Braves

Diablos Rojos lost 13-9 in the third game of the series against Bravos de León, who avoided a sweep at Alfredo Harp Helú Stadium.

León took a 2-1 lead in the first inning, but the Reds turned it around to 3-2 in the next inning. But the Braves' offense reawakened, and they led 13-3 by the end of the seventh inning.

The Reds scored one in the eighth inning and five more in the ninth, a late comeback to make it 13-9. The final inning featured an epic moment with Moisés Gutiérrez's grand slam .

Silverstone. McLaren maintains its Formula One season dominance. McLaren driver Lando Norris fulfilled his dream of winning on home soil yesterday at the British circuit, in a rain-soaked, eventful race that German Nico Hulkenberg (Kick Sauber) took advantage of to take his first podium finish after 239 races, ending the longest wait in Formula 1 history.

Norris took his first win at Silverstone after teammate Oscar Piastri, who finished second, served a 10-second penalty while leading the race for braking heavily behind the safety car.

"It's a dream to win at home, a beautiful thing. Thank you for the moment, I'll remember this more than anything ," Norris told the team over the radio. The British driver got out of the car and celebrated with his fists raised to enjoy the moment, before hugging his mother.

Piastri disagreed with the penalty, stating that he considered it a legal move. The Australian was leading the field before a safety car restart and slowed down to bring the cars together, but did so so abruptly that Max Verstappen had to swerve to avoid an impact.

Once it became clear that Piastri would have to serve the penalty, Norris made sure the Australian couldn't build a lead.

The Briton only needed to maintain the distance with his teammate, so he stayed two seconds behind.

Hülkenberg, who finished third, waited 15 years for a podium finish and to achieve it he had to hold off Lewis Hamilton.

"I was thinking he was going to give it his all here in front of his home crowd. And I was like, 'Sorry, guys, but it's my day too.'"

The trophy, which the 37-year-old German received after a long wait, is made of Lego bricks, as part of a commercial partnership between the company and Formula 1.

Piastri asked him how he felt about receiving a prize “that you can take apart and probably buy next week.

"It's fine, my daughter can play with it too, you always have to look on the bright side. A little silver or gold would have been nice too, but I won't complain ," Hülkenberg replied.

Verstappen started from pole position on the grid but finished fifth after spinning while running second behind Piastri following a safety car restart. The Australian leads the drivers' championship with 234 points and now only has an eight-point advantage over Norris in the standings. Verstappen is third with 165 points.

It was a difficult day for the rookies, as Racing Bulls' Isack Hadjar crashed into the wall after clipping the rear of Kimi Antonelli, saying he couldn't see the Mercedes driver in the rain.

Antonelli later withdrew, and fellow rookies Gabriel Bortoleto, Liam Lawson, and Argentine Franco Colapinto also failed to finish.

In Formula 3, the tricolor Noel León obtained his first podium with Prema, finishing third at Silverstone, while his compatriot Santiago Ramos was eighth.

Meanwhile, in the IndyCar Mid-Ohio race, Mexican Patricio O'Ward (Arrow McLaren) was unable to repeat his victory from last year and finished in fifth place, after climbing nine places.

New Zealander Scott Dixon won the race after taking advantage of a mistake by Alex Palou (2) near the end, who briefly went off the track on a bend. The Mexican's teammate, Christian Lundgaard, finished third.

Chicago. After being selected to his first All-Star Game, pitcher Matthew Boyd struck out nine in five innings and helped the Chicago Cubs crush the St. Louis Cardinals 11-0. Boyd (0-3) allowed just three hits and lowered his ERA to 2.52.

The Cubs took an early lead and then extended the lead with a five-run third inning . They scored a run in each of the first five innings to seal a resounding 11-0 victory.

Nico Hoerner went 3-for-4 with three runs, missing the cycle by one home run. Seiya Suzuki and Pete Crow-Armstrong went 2-for-5, with Suzuki hitting his 25th.
