Rüdiger, six-match ban, Lucas, two, and Bellingham has had his red card revoked for the incidents in the Copa del Rey

Rüdiger, six-match ban, Lucas, two, and Bellingham has had his red card revoked for the incidents in the Copa del Rey

The Sole Competition Judge has ruled on the sanctions to be applied to the Real Madrid players who were sent off in the Copa del Rey final played last Saturday between the Whites and FC Barcelona after throwing objects and then confronting the match referee, Ricardo De Burgos Bengoetxea .

The judge has decided to impose a six-match ban on Antonio Rüdiger , a two-match ban on Real Madrid full-back Lucas Vázquez , and has revoked the card of British player Jude Bellingham . The club can appeal this decision.

The ruling states that the German violated Article 101 of the Disciplinary Code, which refers to "minor violence towards the referees" by throwing "an object that did not reach me" from the technical area and by displaying an "aggressive attitude" and having to be restrained by members of the coaching staff, according to De Burgos Bengoetxea's report.

Since there are more than four matches, the Real Madrid center-back has to play them in any domestic competition, not just the Copa del Rey, the tournament in which he suffered the injury. However, with only five league matches remaining, he will play them between this season and next.

The club attempted to claim the player's spontaneous expression of remorse on social media after the match, but the judge didn't consider it sufficient to reduce the player's sanction, which was imposed at the intermediate level. The penalty stipulated in the aforementioned Article 101 can range from four to twelve matches.

In the case of Lucas Vázquez , Article 127 of the Disciplinary Code applies, which refers to protests to all members of the refereeing body, and for which a sanction of one to three matches is prescribed and to whom a penalty of medium degree has also been applied.

Bellingham, favored

On the other hand, Jude Bellingham benefited from the Single Referee's decision, as he decided to remove the red card he received at the end of Real Madrid's loss to Barcelona, thanks to Koundé 's goal in the second half of extra time.

The ruling states that the video evidence shows a different reality than that described in the referee's report, which is presumed to be true in these trials. They note that "there is no proximity to the referee" nor is there any "aggressive attitude" toward him. Therefore, the Englishman's caution has been withdrawn, and he will be eligible to play against Celta at the Bernabéu in the next La Liga match.
