The 'Gonzo' project continues at Atlas

The 'Gonzo' project continues at Atlas

As part of his presentation as the new president of Atlas FC , Aníbal Fájer officially announced that Gonzalo Pineda will continue to lead the technical direction of the red-and-black club despite a sector of the fans calling for his departure, following the failure to qualify for the Play-In.

"In Gonzalo, we have found a highly professional person who shares the values of the Group, and we are confident that with his leadership and that of the rest of the organization, we can turn around the situation and the sporting results. For this reason, and after meeting in a sports committee session, we have decided to retain Gonzalo Pineda as technical director," said the new Atlista director.

Fájer knows there's a lot of work to be done with the first-team coach , seeking to reverse the situation of not qualifying and having poor results, and only they have the formula to achieve it.

"How can we reverse this? The truth is that this group has a management model that isn't static; it's been refined over these 18 years, but it's based on creating the best conditions around talent. I'm not just referring to the players, but also to all the people we have in the commercial areas, in the sports technical departments, in our training academy—in other words, our youth teams. This model is dedicated to strengthening all talent structures to achieve the best possible performance in all areas."

Regarding the planning of reinforcements, José Riestra, Global Director of Soccer at Orlegi Sports, pointed out that there are already specific positions that Gonzalo Pineda asked to reinforce , taking into account that during the tournament that just ended for them, they were placed in places where they lacked good players.

"As for planning, you'll probably receive information from the club later this week about where they're headed. What we discussed in the meeting was the need to bring in full-backs. I think that was very evident: pushing the midfield and continuing to get the most out of the forwards up front," commented the Grupo Orlegi executive.
