Skyward

We walk with our youngest grandson Wouter (3) through the village to our house. We pass a nursing home. Suddenly Wouter says: "Shall we go and see Omi? We haven't been there for a long time." Omi, my mother, died last year at the age of 93. My wife says, bewildered: "But Wouter, Omi has died and doesn't live here anymore. She is now... in heaven."
Wouter falls silent. He is a thinker. I can see the wheels turning in his head. Then he says: "Shall we go and see her there?"
