The residents of Małopolska weren't expecting such a storm! On Sunday afternoon, August 3, 2025, a supercell thunderstorm swept through the Tarnów region, leaving behind devastation that will long be remembered. Hail the size of walnuts, heavy downpours, and strong winds kept firefighters busy.
The photos circulating online speak for themselves. Lawns in Pogórska Wola and Radlna looked as if snow had fallen – all thanks to a thick layer of ice pellets. One garden table near Tarnów was photographed with an impressive amount of hail, literally covering the tabletop.
Massive hailstorm near Tranów. We haven't seen anything like this in a long time.The disaster didn't spare infrastructure. Downed trees , muddy roads, and clogged culverts were just some of the interventions firefighters from local volunteer fire departments had to deal with. Volunteer firefighters from Wielka Wieś, Janowice , Łękawica, Poręba Radlna, and Skrzyszów responded, among others.
The most damage was reported in towns such as Łękawica, Pogórska Wola, Janowice, and Poręba Radlna. Not only roads but also residents' properties suffered damage .
Not only the Tarnów area had to contend with the devastating force of nature. Hail also fell in Wojnarowa and Gorlice, where residents are also struggling to recover from the storm's aftermath.
