Ryszard Chwaliński was a dedicated teacher, social activist and educator of many generations. He lived with others in mind – from his childhood marked by wartime fates, to his active retirement. He left a lasting mark on the hearts of people and the local community.

He was born on December 10, 1944. His place of birth was quite unusual. It was the forests near the town now called Gościniec, in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship.

- As my mother told me, the birth took place in a dugout. My parents belonged to the Peasant Battalions. My father commanded the unit, my mother acted as a liaison. My parents took part in such actions as the rescue of prisoners in Pińczów, the destruction of lists of people sent for deportation to forced labor in the Third Reich, the derailment of trains going east, the liquidation of collaborators. When my mother took part in these actions, she took the little baby with her, because after the actions the unit never returned to its previous place of residence. My mother hid reports under my T-shirts and diapers. There was ammunition hidden in my swaddling clothes. When she carried me in a scarf, she had grenades hidden. I was included in the personnel of the unit - he wrote in his memoirs.
