PSL in alliance with PiS? An unusual survey, this is how the PSL responded

Polsat News has determined that members of the Polish People's Party, whose president is Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense - Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz - one of the four leaders of the currently ruling October 15 Coalition, were to receive surveys with questions to fill out. They partly concerned the possible tightening of relations with the party of MP Jarosław Kaczyński - Law and Justice, as well as the far-right grouping of Deputy Speaker of the Sejm Krzysztof Bosak and MP Sławomir Mentzen - Confederation of Freedom and Independence.

Does this mean that the PSL are considering an alliance with the right wing? The party's spokesman, Miłosz Motyka, deputy head of the Ministry of Climate and Environment, assures that at the moment "there are no talks". "As PSL, we have said this many times that we do not cooperate with anti-democratic parties," he emphasized in an interview with Polsat. He also referred to the survey result. "There is no point in looking for a second meaning. There is no coalition with PiS and this survey, to put it very brutally, shows that," he noted.

70% of PSL members do not want to resign from the current coalition

The PSL spokesman revealed that over 70 percent of party members support remaining in the ruling coalition – in its current form.

The head of PSL structures in the Opole region, Marcin Oszańca, also referred to the matter. The director of the Rural Development Department at the Opole Province Marshal's Office informed the local website opolska360.pl that the purpose of the survey was solely to "examine moods" among party members.

It is worth adding that so far in the history of the PSL party, it has never formed a government coalition with PiS (in the past, the PSL only formed one with the Democratic Left Alliance or – as now – the Civic Platform). During the rule of the right wing, the party was in opposition.
