The former Luxpol Knitting Industry Plant at Pierwsza Brygady/Towarowa Street in Stargard has been sold. It was purchased by a resident of Stargard, the head of Adam Development.

The new owner has his own vision of revitalization for the solid reinforced concrete structure built in the late 1960s. The purchase transaction, worth several million złoty, had a happy ending last Tuesday, July 1.

– This building is connected with the history of my family – says Adam Staśkiewicz, a Stargard developer involved in the construction of single-family and multi-family buildings, owner of Luxpol. – My great-grandmother, grandmother and mother worked in this plant. So a piece of me is inside it. I was intrigued that it was for sale. I decided to buy it and restore it to its former glory. I am a local patriot and I have great sentiment for it. I believe that it has great prospects and possibilities.

Luxpol used to be a showcase

Luxpol is a 6-storey building with a solid structure, 3 staircases and 2 elevators. It has an area of approx. 15 thousand m2. The sewing plant, where in its heyday crowds of residents of Stargard and the surrounding area worked, operated in the years 1971-2006. It dealt with the distribution of underwear and light clothing in retail. In the years 1993-2006 it operated as a joint-stock company. One of Luxpol's clients was Adidas Polska sp. z o. o. In the second half of the 90s, the financial situation of the company deteriorated significantly. In 1998, a decision was made to declare its bankruptcy. Luxpol ceased operations in 2006. For many years, there was no idea for it. The building fell into disrepair and generated costs, despite the fact that 18 companies operate inside, including a paper and clothing factory.

– We sew uniforms for Swedish services, the army and the police, among others – says the owner of the MP clothing factory.

Business is supposed to come back there

Representatives of companies operating within the walls of the former Luxpol welcomed the news of the sale of the building, because it is connected with its revitalization. And it requires urgent replacement of door and window joinery and thermal modernization. And a lot of financial outlays inside. The new owner wants to restore it to its former glory. He will have to prepare documentation and obtain the appropriate permits. It may take up to two years before the modernization starts in earnest.

– All historical aspects will certainly be preserved – assures Adam Staśkiewicz. – Not only inside, but also outside, including the inscriptions on the building, will certainly remain after the revitalization and will shine with their former glory.

The owners of the TEO company from Łódź, who came from Warsaw, had no idea what to do with the facility. It fell into disrepair year after year.

– I have already talked to the tenants and everything will remain in the structure in which it is – assures the Stargard developer. – I am now focusing on the construction of 2 residential buildings, also at Towarowa Street, and at the same time I will work to bring back the entrepreneurial spirit to Luxpol after the renovation. ©℗
