MPs get a slap in the face. Record holder's wallet "lighter" by nine thousand zlotys

April 30 was the deadline for submitting property declarations to the Sejm. Mirosław Maliszewski from PSL, who submitted his declaration on May 2, Republican MPs Paweł Kukiz (May 9) and Marek Jakubiak (May 12) and Dariusz Matecki from PiS (May 21) did not submit them on time. For each day of delay, the politicians lost 1/30 of their remuneration, which amounts to PLN 449, informed "Rzeczpospolita".

Maliszewski lost exactly that amount, Kukiz's pocket is "lighter" by PLN 3.6 thousand, Jakubiak's by PLN 4.9 thousand, and Matecki's by PLN 9 thousand gross. "I simply missed the deadline. I filed the statement only after the long weekend, although I should have done so a week earlier. I suffered the consequences and I do not claim any claims for this," Kukiz explained.

Jakubiak, on the other hand, used the presidency and campaign as a cover. Matecki, on the other hand, blamed his stay in prison. He was arrested in March and released on April 25. "When I left prison, I didn't have some of the documents from the Sejm regarding the amounts that I should have entered in the declaration. I submitted the document as soon as I had collected the information necessary for that," he argued.

The head of the Sejm's Rules, Deputies' Affairs and Immunities Committee, Jarosław Urbaniak, emphasized that property declarations can be submitted as early as January 1. Matecki received a warning, as did Maliszewski and Kukiz, who did not send an explanation of the reason for their delay to the committee or did not appear at the meeting. Matecki explained his absence by the "biased behavior of the committee towards him". This concerns, among other things, the situation with Wojciech Czuchnowski .
