Przemyśl County is part of the Association of Fortress Municipalities of the Przemyśl Fortress
A few days ago, at the Przemyśl County Council meeting on August 1st, the county council approved the decision to join the Przemyśl Fortress Association of Fortress Communes. The Przemyśl Fortress County-Community Association thus began operating.
On July 16th of this year, the Association of Fortress Municipalities of the Przemyśl Fortress submitted a proposal to join the Przemyśl County. To this end, it also adopted a resolution amending the association's statute. For this change to take effect, appropriate procedures, in the form of a vote, were still necessary. This took place at the last county session. Councilors unanimously approved the decision to join the association. The association, established in 2008 and previously comprised nine municipalities of the Przemyśl County and the Przemyśl Municipality, was thus expanded to include the Przemyśl County.
Council Chairman Piotr Pękalski concluded that such a step seems fully justified.
"The county has participated in the association practically from the beginning, with former starosta Jan Pączek serving as vice-chairman of its board. However, at that stage, the law did not yet allow for the establishment of a county-municipal association," explained Secretary Witold Szpytman.
"I am extremely pleased with the council's decision, as it represents a tremendous opportunity for the association's development and, consequently, for building the tourism product that is the Przemyśl Fortress. I would like to extend my sincere thanks to Starost Bożena Ryczan, Council Chairman Piotr Pękalski, Secretary Witold Szpytman, and all councilors for their understanding of our common goal and their support," commented ZGFTP Chairman Mirosław Majkowski.
At the session, he also outlined the goals of the Przemyśl Fortress District-Community Association.
"It is the development of a powerful tourism product that will be a driving force for the local economy, of which tourism is, after all, a crucial part. I am absolutely convinced that this product will be a success. We will make the Przemyśl Fortress one of the main tourist attractions in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship," he said.
