Staffing Crisis in ENT? Hospital Explains Reasons for Temporary Suspension of Department Operations

On Tuesday, August 5th, just before the issue closed, the editorial office received an email from the management of the St. Father Provincial Hospital in Przemyśl, temporarily closing the Otolaryngology Department with the Pediatric Laryngology Subunit. However, as our source stated, due to these circumstances, there was a lack of "any information for patients on either the hospital or the National Health Fund (NFZ) websites (quote)." The email alerting the public about the problem at the department also stated that patients were left without any otolaryngological care, and that the emergency department (ED) was informing them to refer them to a hospital in Rzeszów. Later that same day, we contacted a spokesperson for the St. Father Provincial Hospital in Przemyśl, requesting clarification and more detailed information regarding the department's closure and the reasons for it.

The hospital assured that the department will return to normal operations starting August 18th and will continue to function as usual. It added that patients who had procedures scheduled during that time have been notified and have been rescheduled for alternative, similar dates.
