The popularity of secondary schools is not decreasing. The smallest percentage of students choose vocational schools of the first degree

We checked what the trends are this year when it comes to primary school graduates. In the city of Przemyśl, the deadline for registration and submitting applications for admission is June 13. However, this does not mean that the final decision will be made after this date. The possibility of transferring the application for admission to a different post-primary school than the one originally indicated, or changing the order of selected schools will be possible between June 27 and July 7. What is more, graduates of "primary schools" still do not know what result they achieved on the exam, and this plays a large role in the final score that decides on admission to the school of their dreams.

According to information obtained from the head of the Department of Education and Sports of the Przemyśl City Office, Renata Kochanowicz-Chalicka, recruitment to 13 high school classes (402 places) and 14 vocational school classes (448 places) has been planned in Przemyśl for the 2025/2026 school year. The J. Słowacki General Secondary School No. 1 in Przemyśl has a total of 160 places in 5 classes waiting for applicants. An identical pool has been prepared in the Prof. K. Morawski General Secondary School No. 2 in Przemyśl. The Prof. J. Groszkowski Electronics and General Secondary School Complex, or the popular "Elektronik", has prepared 62 places in the IV High School (2 classes) and 96 places in the Technical School No. 4 (3 classes). In the Center for Vocational and Continuing Education No. 1, there are 32 places for primary school graduates in Technical School No. 6 (1 class), 64 places in Technical School No. 8 (2 classes) and 64 places in Vocational School of the first degree No. 6 (2 classes). The Center for Vocational and Continuing Education No. 2 in Przemyśl has 64 places in Technical School No. 2 (2 classes), and the Complex of Service, Hotel and Catering Schools in Przemyśl has 64 places in Technical School No. 1 (2 classes) and 64 places in Vocational School of the first degree No. 1 (also 2 classes). In total, this gives 850 places in all post-primary schools in the city.

We asked the Department of Education and Sports about students' preferences. Since general secondary schools have enjoyed the greatest popularity in recent years and the most fierce competition was for places in these schools, we checked whether this trend is continuing or whether young people are increasingly willing to choose technical schools, which offer a specific profession.
