On Sunday, June 15, at around 9 p.m., the services received a report of a man who had jumped into the water near Most Długi in Szczecin. His body was fished out before midnight.

The fire department, police and the Szczecin WOPR participated in the search operation.

- We received the report at 20:54. We finished our activities at 23:38 - informs Capt. Franciszek Goliński from the Municipal Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Szczecin. - One fire brigade team, a water and diving group and a port fire brigade boat took part in the search. We secured the area and closed the waterway so that no one else could swim in the area of the missing person. The conditions in which we conducted the search were difficult. A diver entered the water, found the man's body, which was then recovered.

The man was already dead.

The Szczecin WOPR also worked on site.

- We received the report at 20:55. Initially, it was claimed that two people had jumped into the water. After analyzing the monitoring, it turned out that it was one person - a man who threw something into the river before jumping. We sent one boat to search. Witnesses showed us the place of the incident. After the initial search, a diver from the fire department was dispatched, because no one was found on the surface. At 21:15, the diver found the body of the victim. It was a 21-year-old - says Iwona Kacprzak, a lifeguard from the Szczecin WOPR.

Situations like this happen quite often. Not only on Most Długi.

- Also on the Pioneer Bridge or the Castle Route - says Iwona Kacprzak. - The reasons are different: suicides, recklessness and bets or the so-called "challenge" performed by young people, often under the influence of alcohol or other intoxicants. ©℗
