Two debates before the second round of elections. We know the first details

Two debates before the second round of elections. We know the first details

The first round of presidential elections will take place on Sunday, May 18. If no candidate manages to obtain more than 50 percent of the vote, the two candidates with the most support will compete for the presidency in the second round on June 1. According to current polls, it will most likely be the Civic Coalition candidate Rafał Trzaskowski and Karol Nawrocki, supported by Law and Justice.

The first debate before the second round is next Wednesday

However, before the candidates face off in the second round of elections, they will have to face off in a debate organized jointly by TVP, TVN24 and Polsat News. It is to take place on Wednesday, May 21, at 8 p.m., at the headquarters of Telewizja Polska at ul. Woronicza 17 in Warsaw.

An organizational meeting with representatives of the election teams of candidates who will advance to the second round has been scheduled at the headquarters for Monday, May 19, at 3 p.m. "During the meeting, the rules and course of the debate will be proposed and discussed," it was announced.

The debate will be available on TVP 1 and TVP Info, where there will be sign language interpretation, as well as on TVN24, Polsat News and Polsat News Polityka. In addition, the debate signal will be made available free of charge to all interested media.

Telewizja Republika will organize its debate before the second round

The debate organized by TVP, TVN24 and Polsat News will not be the only one to take place before the second round of elections. Just two days after it, on May 23, a pre-election debate is to take place on Telewizja Republika.

"Ladies and gentlemen, as announced, on the first Friday after the first round of elections, TV Republika is organizing an election debate. We invite both candidates," announced Tomasz Sakiewicz, the station's president, on social media.

It is not known, however, whether Rafał Trzaskowski will appear at the debate on Telewizja Republika. The candidate has already refused to participate in two debates organized by the station before the first round of elections. If he does not appear, we may get a similar picture to the one in the debates between him and Andrzej Duda in the second round of elections in 2020.
