Unwanted and Abandoned: Four Babies in the Trash

Four little ones from the trash bin – two girls and two boys – at the headquarters of the Szczecin TOZ (ul. Ojca Beyzyma 17) are waiting for a new chance from fate, i.e. for loving families. Photo: Towarzystwo Opieki nad Zwierzątmi
Someone took them from their mother, put them in a cardboard box and abandoned them by the garbage bin. Small, sick, defenseless kittens. "It's terrible that even though we live in the 21st century, some people still treat animals like used gloves or socks, and abandon them in the garbage bin," the Szczecin branch of the Society for the Protection of Animals points out.
"An animal, as a living being, capable of suffering, is not a thing. Man owes it respect, protection and care" - that's the theory. Because the practice is unfortunately like in the garbage dump on Wawrzyniaka Street, where abandoned babies were found in a cardboard box - cat quadruplets.
– They were lucky that they were noticed by two men. They didn't just walk past, they took the little ones from the garbage can and brought them to our headquarters. Thank you for your concern – says Marlena Sobczak from TOZ in Szczecin. – We don't know how long they were left alone, without help. It's bad enough that they were neglected, dehydrated, hungry and sick.
The little ones are about 5 weeks old. So they are independent. They are two girls (tricolor with a predominance of white and gray) and two boys (ginger-white and graphite-white). They suffer from cat flu, but their prognosis is very good. They have already been defleaed and dewormed. After treatment and vaccination, they will be able to go into the hands of sensitive and responsible caregivers.
- Secured with medication, they are fighting bravely. We are already looking for good homes for them. The kittens are too small to live alone. That is why we are looking for a place for them in two-packs or we will give them up for adoption where there is already one resident cat, i.e. to "fill in" the family - informs TOZ.
The little ones require not only careful care, but also specialist food (baby pate). This is what the Szczecin TOZ lacks. So there is a chance for a good deed.
- There are unwanted animals. But the trash bin is definitely not the place for them - Marlena Sobczak points out. - It is worth looking for new guardians for them. Do not abandon them, do not condemn them to suffering or cruel death, for example under the wheels of a car. After all, we have a shelter for homeless dogs and cats in Szczecin, organizations - like ours - that take care of animals. Let's be responsible, let's show our "smaller brothers" more empathy and compassion. Let's not remain indifferent to them! ©℗
