Warsaw among Europe's best cities for night owls. Barcelona beats

The authors of the list note that Warsaw has something for every nightlife enthusiast. There are jazz clubs, trendy clubs, hidden speakeasy cocktail bars, and plenty of student bars, especially on Nowy Świat Street.

It also turns out that, compared to other cities in the ranking, Warsaw, despite its rich entertainment offerings, is also safe. The Polish capital received a score of 68.03 points out of a possible 100, making it one of the safest cities in the entire ranking.

Paris topped the European rankings with nearly 1,900 establishments open late. The French capital's weakness, however, is its level of safety after dark, with the city receiving a low score of 35.73 points.

Prague came in second, with over 1,250 establishments open late into the night. The Czech capital also received the highest safety score, with a whopping 73.88 points. Vienna came in third, with 1,230 establishments open late and a relatively high safety score of 67.10 points.

Further places in the top ten European cities were occupied by: London (a very entertaining city, but also one of the least safe), Munich (with a level of safety comparable to Prague), Budapest, Warsaw, Stockholm, Frankfurt and – perhaps surprisingly – Barcelona, which only landed in tenth place.

Ranking: The most beautiful cities in the world for nightlife lovers

Travelbag experts also compiled a separate global ranking of the most beautiful and attractive cities for nightlife. New York City emerged as the leader, with over 2,300 establishments open late into the night and a safety rating of 46.
