Who are Polish soldiers with dual citizenship and what do they do?
The legal framework for employing people with dual citizenship in the army was created by the Act on the Defense of the Homeland. "Article 83 specifically states that a person called up for military service meets the mandatory condition, which is, among others, having Polish citizenship. Having additional citizenship does not exclude the candidate from the possibility of participating in the recruitment procedure for military service in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland," the media department of the Ministry of National Defense informed "Rzeczpospolita".
The ministry does not provide an exact number of soldiers and civilians working in the Armed Forces with two passports. "Detailed data constitutes classified information and cannot be made public," the Ministry of National Defense stated. But it further stated that people with dual citizenship make up about 0.1 percent of the Armed Forces. If we assume that we have over 200,000 soldiers and over 45,000 civilian employees, this gives about 250 people.
