Ryan Reynolds is gearing up for a new villain role.

Ryan Reynolds will join the cast of Kay Thompson's film adaptation of the acclaimed children's book series "Eloise." The star will portray the villain the titular character faces. Newcomer Mae Schenk will play the resolute girl who lives with her nanny at New York's Plaza Hotel.
The film , directed by Amy Sherman-Palladino, the creator of the popular series "Gilmore Girls," will be available on Netflix. The plot is currently unknown.
" Eloise has been a beloved character for generations since her first publication in the 1950s . No family trip to New York City is complete without a stop at The Plaza," Hannah Minghella, Netflix's head of feature animation and family films, said in a statement, according to People.
"It's an honor to reintroduce this character to the world with the help of two people who share her signature mischievous nature and charm – Amy Sherman-Palladino and Ryan Reynolds ," she added.
This, as Minghella put it, "bold, funny and heartfelt family film" does not yet have a release date.
Ryan Reynolds to Play Villain in New Adaptation of 'Eloise'This popular children's series has already been adapted for the screen. In 1956, a 90-minute television play was created based on the book and aired on CBS's "Playhouse 90." In April 2003, "Eloise" was adapted into a television movie entitled "Eloise at the Plaza."
Ryan Reynolds' latest role is in the 2024 film "Deadpool & Wolverine," where he reprised his role as Wade Wilson / Deadpool.
