It's certain - the young wizard is back, but this time in a new, serial version. HBO has revealed the cast of the long-awaited production, which is to re-enchant viewers around the world. Who will wear round-rimmed glasses, and who will become the Gryffindor with the sharpest mind?

The world-famous young wizard will return to the small screen. HBO has officially announced who will play the most important roles in its new series, namely Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley . The young wizard with a lightning-shaped scar will be played by newcomer Dominic McLaughlin , Hermione will be played by Arabella Stanton , and the redhead Ron will be played by Alastair Stout . This is a trio that – as the creators assure – has not only talent, but also a spark that makes their shared magic really work.

Casting directors Lucy Bevan and Emily Brockmann scoured the globe for the perfect young actors. Francesca Gardiner , showrunner and executive producer, and Mark Mylod , who directed some of the episodes, commented on their selection:
