Wiesław Łągiewka's Great Celebration. Half a Century of Work in Szczecin

On Saturday, the Shakespeare Stage of the Polish Theatre in Szczecin will host the "Wiesław Łągiewka Benefit". During this event, the actor will celebrate a special anniversary: half a century of work in Szczecin. A large group of the artist's friends (musicians, actors, singers, bands) and actresses and actors of the Polish Theatre will perform on stage. The event will be a great opportunity to recall several decades of artistic work of the aforementioned, outstanding actor. The concert will begin at 6:00 p.m.
The benefit will be accompanied by the premiere of Wiesław Łągiewka's new album, entitled: "Moje Miejsce na Ziemi". The whole thing begins with a song about Grodków, where the actor was born. Of course, Szczecin could not be missing from this "map of beloved places". That is why among the songwriters and those who worked on the album are excellent artists from Szczecin, including Leszek Żebrowski (graphic design), Barbara Stenka (text development and lyrics of several songs), writer - Artur Daniel Liskowacki and pianist, music director of the Polish Theatre - Krzysztof Baranowski.
Wiesław Łągiewka made his debut in 1973, performing the role of Antonio in "The Marriage of Figaro" at the Grand Theatre in Łódź. He defended his Master of Arts degree in 1975. In the same year, the artist came to Szczecin. In the years 1975-1996 he was an actor – initially at the State Musical Theatre (1975-1986) at Potulicka Street, and after the reorganization of the institution – at the Opera and Operetta (1986-1996). In 1992, he passed an external director's exam, obtaining qualifications in the field of directing musical and stage performances.
Since 1996, he has been an actor at the Polish Theatre in Szczecin. As an actor and director, he has successfully collaborated with other theatre stages in Szczecin, including Piwnica przy Krypcie, Teatr Krypta, Akademia Sztuki and the Opera na Zamku. He has released several albums, including one with songs by Szczecin artists, is involved in the project entitled "Drzewka Pamięci" (intended to honour important figures in post-war Szczecin), conducted classes for students (subject: diction and interpretation of literary texts), appeared in commercials and spots, and for a long time hosted the television programme Klub Srebrnego Włosa. He played a supporting role as a Dwarf in the film "Wiedźmin" directed by Marek Brodzki and as a Nobleman in "Zemsta" directed by Andrzej Wajda. In 1999, he appeared in the fictionalised documentary entitled "Paderewski's Life After Life" directed by by Stefan Szlachtycz, produced in Szczecin and with the participation of Szczecin actors.
In May 2025, Wiesław Łągiewka received a medal on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the incorporation of Western Pomerania into Polish administration. The distinction was awarded by the Marshal of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, Olgierd Geblewicz, who wrote in a congratulatory letter: "I express great appreciation for your many years of work, professionalism and extraordinary commitment to the development of Western Pomerania. Your activities contributed to shaping the national, civic and cultural awareness of the inhabitants, as well as cultivating and developing the regional identity."
