A milestone in another offshore wind farm project in the Baltic Sea

Ocean Winds , a global offshore wind energy company, announced that it has signed an agreement with Siemens Gamesa to supply wind turbines for its Polish BC-Wind offshore wind farm project.
Kacper Kostrzewa, Ocean Winds: The BC-Wind project confirms that the Baltic Sea is a key market for us"We are pleased to announce this important milestone for our project in Poland, which represents a key contribution to the country's energy transition. This project not only underscores our commitment to renewable energy, but also confirms that the Baltic Sea is a key market for us," commented Kacper Kostrzewa , Managing Director of Ocean Winds in Poland , as quoted in the press release.
It was noted that the conclusion of the agreement is dependent on Ocean Winds making a decision to commence the investment (Notice to Proceed, NtP).

BC-Wind is one of the Phase I projects of offshore wind energy development in the Polish waters of the Baltic Sea.
Ocean Winds also announced that the contract covers the delivery of 26 wind turbines with a unit capacity of 14 MW, with the option to increase this to 15 MW using the Power Boost function. Installation and commissioning of the turbines are expected in 2028.
The installation port for BC-Wind will be Terminal T5 in the Port of Gdańsk, the final investment decision is planned for 2025."After a detailed analysis of macroeconomic factors and based on our experience with the Moray West project in the UK, we chose Siemens Gamesa . Their technological solution ensures high efficiency," said Pete Geddes, BC-Wind Project Director at Ocean Winds , as quoted in the press release.
The installation port for the BC-Wind project will be Terminal T5 at the Port of Gdańsk , which will serve as a logistics base for pre-installation work and the loading of turbine components. Cadeler will be responsible for transport and installation.
The BC-Wind offshore wind farm has an environmental decision for both the offshore and onshore parts and the right to a contract for difference (CfD).
The announcement emphasized that the selection of the turbine supplier is one of the most important steps on the path to concluding implementation agreements and making the final investment decision (FID), planned for 2025.
