Another split in local government. Diagnosticians requested the dismissal of President Pintal-Ślimak.

- The National Council of Laboratory Diagnosticians voted on a motion to convene an extraordinary meeting to dismiss President Monika Pintal-Ślimak
- The objections included, among others: the Council being bypassed in decisions, the lack of collegiality and independent correspondence with external institutions.
- The motion failed to gain a majority. Opponents point out that votes not supporting the KIDL leader's actions are an expression of a loss of trust.
- This is another local government that has experienced a split in the current term. Physiotherapists successfully dismissed the head of the chamber, while doctors tried unsuccessfully.
During the last meeting of the National Council of Laboratory Diagnosticians, a motion was considered to convene an extraordinary meeting to dismiss the president of the National Council of Laboratory Diagnosticians, Monika Pintal-Ślimak.
The motion pointed out, among other things, the Council's omission in decisions, the lack of collegiality and independent correspondence with external institutions, including - as it was put - the case of the Vizja University in Warsaw, which announced recruitment for postgraduate studies in medical analytics.
The motion to hold an extraordinary meeting failed to secure a majority. Eight Council members voted in favor, seven abstained, and 19 opposed. Opponents point out that the 15 votes against the president "express a loss of confidence and an expectation of decisive action."
"Since the beginning of my term, I have conducted activities based on transparency and dialogue, which is why during the Council meeting I addressed the false arguments presented in the motion. I thank the Council members for their trust and support, which enables me and the entire Presidium to continue working on behalf of laboratory diagnosticians," says Monika Pintal-Ślimak, President of the National Laboratory of Laboratory Diagnostics (KRDL).
- However, the motion was an important signal for us that ongoing communication with some of the Council members should be improved, so that in the election year (the four-year term ends in December 2026 - ed.) there would be no room for manipulation and attempts to divide our community - he added.
The head of the self-government also refers to the aforementioned recruitment for postgraduate studies in medical analytics.
In short, let us recall that during the 2022 procedure for the Act on Laboratory Medicine - with the opposition of some diagnosticians - a transitional provision was included that until 2028, a person who has completed postgraduate education in medical analytics or undertaken the indicated specialization training may be designated as a laboratory diagnostician.
As it was raised in the Sejm at the time, this gateway could be a path to the profession of diagnostician for people without medical education, and the field of medical analysis, which includes a uniform, five-year master's degree, actually prepares for this profession.
President Pintal-Ślimak explains that the key argument for the motion to convene the congress "was the suggestion regarding my alleged involvement in the planned launch of postgraduate studies in medical analytics by the University of Vizja."
"I firmly and consistently reiterate that I took no action in this matter, was not informed about it, was not consulted about it, and had no influence on the decisions of the university authorities. In fact, I published a statement on this matter on October 21st," says the head of KIDL.
"I am convinced that the majority of laboratory diagnosticians want to collaborate and further strengthen the position of our profession, rather than create divisions that undermine trust in our community. Today, we are an important partner in discussions about the healthcare system with representatives of the government and other local governments," she adds.
Attempt to dismiss the president of the medical chamber and the dismissed head of the physiotherapists' chamberLet us add that this is another Chamber in which, during the current term, we have attempts - successful or unsuccessful - to dismiss local government leaders.
In November 2024, Rynek Zdrowia (Health Market) unveiled a motion to convene an extraordinary congress to dismiss Łukasz Jankowski, president of the Supreme Medical Council. The formal back-and-forth continued until March of this year. Ultimately, the Supreme Medical Council rejected the draft resolution to convene the congress .
There have also been several coup attempts (in 2023, 2024, and 2025) within the physiotherapists' self-government. The most recent one resulted in the convening of a congress and the dismissal of the current president of the National Council of Physiotherapists, Tomasz Dybek, on September 6th of this year . He was replaced by Agnieszka Stępień.
This spring, there was also a rift within the nursing and midwifery self-government. New rules for paying fees to the Supreme Chamber of Nurses and Midwives were introduced in April. Following a wave of criticism from the community, the head of the self-government, Mariola Łodzińska, notified the Professional Liability Ombudsman in one case .
