Hubert Hurkacz recognized the superiority of "Djoko" in the ATP 250 final in Geneva

Hubert Hurkacz recognized the superiority of "Djoko" in the ATP 250 final in Geneva

Novak Djokovic reached for his jubilee, 100th championship on the professional tour in Geneva. The Serb did it by winning the fierce final of the ATP 250 tournament in Geneva, in which his opponent was Hubert Hurkacz. Our compatriot came close to causing quite a sensation, but in the end the star from the Balkans turned out to be slightly better, winning after three close sets.

This could have been the most important win in Hubert Hurkacz's career . It could have been, because the Pole fought an incredibly close battle with Djokovic .

The Wrocław player approached the match clearly motivated, without fear of his titled opponent. Hubi deservedly won the opening game 7:5, but Djoko evened the score after a spectacular tie break.

The lost second set did not discourage the Pole, because it was he who broke his opponent's serve in the decisive part of the match, leading first 2:0, then 3:1 and even 4:2.

Hurkacz had everything in his hands, but ultimately had to admit Djokovic's superiority for the eighth time.

The Olympic champion from Paris made up for a break loss to convincingly defeat our compatriot in the tennis playoff, losing only two points.

It must be admitted, however, that 'Hubi' got completely lost at a key moment of the game , making a lot of terrible mistakes with the forehand, and the beginner took advantage of this.

''Nole'' won 5:7, 7:6, 7:6 and beat Hurkacz for the eighth time. Despite the painful defeat, the Pole left a very good impression - he had an atomic serve and played well at the net.

Hubert Hurkacz in the top 30 of the WTA

Thanks to his successful performance in Switzerland, the player from Lower Silesia returned to the top thirty in the world ranking and passed the test of form before the Grand Slam at Roland Garros with flying colors.

It is worth noting that "Hubi" has enjoyed his greatest successes so far on other surfaces, so his form on clay may be a good prognosis not only for the French Open, but also for Wimbledon.

Let us recall that the Wrocław player has recently been plagued by injuries and has rarely appeared on the court. The 28-year-old has been battling severe back pain, among other things, but fortunately it seems that these ailments are now behind him.

Djokovic, on the other hand, has reasons to celebrate and before the upcoming tournament in France he will certainly be one of the main favorites to win the final .
