Quoted by cbc.ca, Jeramie Scott, senior counsel at the US Electronic Privacy Information Center, suggests that photos of people crossing US borders could also be used for other purposes, such as surveillance. In the past, President Donald Trump's administration has already demonstrated its willingness to misuse personal data, including when the US Treasury Department issued a decision to share confidential taxpayer data with Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
