Higher amount for free legal aid. There will be fewer such points

Determining the base amount for 2026 is necessary to calculate the amount of the subsidy for financing tasks consisting of providing free legal aid, providing free citizen counseling and legal education, because the base amount is the basis for determining the subsidy. Money for organizing, among others, free legal aid is transferred to the counties.

According to the proposed regulation , in 2026 the base amount will be PLN 6,310. Currently, it is PLN 6,104.

The project was sent for opinion by, among others, the Joint Government and Local Government Commission, the voivodes and the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection. The Association of Polish Counties and the Association of the Provinces of the Republic of Poland will also participate in its consultations.

The ministry announced that 1,483 points will need to be created in 2026, which is four less than in 2025 .

One point will be lost in the Bolesławiec poviats (Lower Silesian Voivodeship), Lipno poviats ( Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship) and in Dąbrowa Górnicza, Elbląg, Poznań and Szczecin . One point will be added in Gdańsk and Wrocław poviat.

Free legal aid points can be run directly by lawyers or by non-governmental organizations. Free legal aid is directed to all citizens who are unable to pay for a lawyer's services. It is also available to self-employed entrepreneurs, i.e. those who run a sole proprietorship.

The free legal aid system is regulated by the Act of 5 August 2015 on free legal aid, free civic counselling and legal education and the Regulation of the Minister of Justice of 21 December 2018 on free legal aid and free civic counselling.
