The fourteenth pension will not reach everyone. Some will not receive even a penny

- 14. A retirement pension is granted to persons who have an established right to a retirement or disability pension and provided that the benefit they receive, i.e. the monthly retirement or disability pension, does not exceed the amount established by law.
- - This year the number of people who will receive the so-called 14th will be smaller than last year - Dr. Marcin Wojewódka told Onet.
- This is a result of the fact that the income thresholds applicable to the so-called fourteenth-year pensions were not raised in 2025.
The act introducing the 14th pension allows the government to shape the amount of the benefit and the date of its payment. These issues are regulated by regulations issued by October 31. This year, the benefit is to be paid in September.
As Dr. Marcin Wojewódka explains in an interview with Onet, the 14th pension is only available to people who have an established right to a pension or disability pension, provided that the benefit they receive, i.e. the monthly pension or disability pension, does not exceed the amount specified in the Act .
This amount - the income threshold - is currently PLN 2,900 gross. This means that if a pensioner or annuity holder receives no more than PLN 2,900 gross from ZUS today, they will receive the fourteenth pension in full.
- says Dr. Marcin Wojewódka.
Will fewer people receive the 14th pension in 2025?Dr. Marcin Wojewódka from the Pension Institute emphasizes in an interview with Onet that the income thresholds applicable to these benefits have not been raised in 2025.
- In practice, with the value of pension benefits increasing year by year , this means that this year the number of people who will receive the so-called 14th pension will be smaller than in the previous year - says the expert.
As he explains, the amount of the so-called fourteenth pension is PLN 1,878.91 gross and corresponds to the amount of the minimum pension, which in practice means a net amount ranging from PLN 1,484.34 to PLN 1,709.81.
To receive the fourteenth pension, it is not necessary to submit an applicationDr Marcin Wojewódka emphasises at the same time that there is also a group of pensioners or annuitants receiving their monthly benefit in excess of PLN 2,900 gross, who will receive a certain part of the so-called fourteenth pension, as exceeding the threshold of PLN 2,900 gross does not exclude receiving additional funds.
- Pensioners or annuitants with higher benefits will receive a reduced amount of the so-called 14th pension in accordance with the "zloty for zloty" rule. However, the so-called fourteenth pension will not be paid if, after applying this rule, it amounts to less than PLN 50 gross. In practice, this means that some part of the so-called fourteenth pension will be received by people with monthly benefits between PLN 2,900 and PLN 4,750. It is also worth remembering that, similarly to the "thirteenth pension", the payment is automatic, without the need to submit an application - adds Dr. Marcin Wojewódka for Onet.pl.
