The government is paying out the first funds for the victims of the fire in Ząbki. The money will go directly to the residents

On Friday, July 4, this year, the Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration, coordinator of special services Tomasz Siemoniak was at the scene of a fire in a multi-family building in Ząbki. The Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration, head of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister Jan Grabiec, Deputy Minister Wiesław Leśniakiewicz, the Voivode of Mazovia Mariusz Frankowski, the mayor of Ząbki Małgorzata Zyśk and representatives of the services discussed the needs of people injured in yesterday's fire in Ząbki.

During the conference, Minister Tomasz Siemoniak assured of the support of the state and local government and announced an explanation of the causes of this tragedy.

The most important information is that after the search teams of the fire department and the police finished their work - there are no victims in this building. Prime Minister Donald Tusk organized a meeting with the heads of various services. Together with Minister Jan Grabiec , we immediately came here and talked about how to help the injured. I would like to thank the State Fire Service for the action taken. It arrived immediately

The head of the Ministry of Interior and Administration spoke about how difficult the operation was and what dangers the firefighters faced.

The fire spread very quickly due to the wooden construction elements . It was accompanied by a very strong wind, so the action was very complex. Thanks to the dedication and effort of the firefighters, it was carried out very professionally . There were also over 200 police officers on site. At the moment, police officers and firefighters are securing the area, preparing the Building Inspectorate for action.

The Minister of Interior and Administration also spoke about explaining the causes of the fire.

We are investigating the causes of the fire . The fire department, the police, and also - as in many cases in Poland - the Internal Security Agency are interested in such situations. There are currently no grounds to determine any type of arson. However, we are not ruling out any scenarios here and investigators are working and will continue to work in this direction. The most important thing is, of course, helping the residents

Minister Tomasz Siemoniak assured support for the injured parties.

I would like to thank the mayor, governor, and district head for their involvement. I would like to thank the residents of Ząbki for showing the victims their heartfelt response. We also talked about support. The first money, PLN 8,000, is to go to the victims. The next stage is reconstruction, funds for reconstruction, and taking care of the residents. We will work on this with Minister Jan Grabiec, supporting the mayor through the governor, who has been obliged by us to take all actions here on the spot.

The mayor of Ząbki, Małgorzata Zyśk, informed that information on how to help the victims can be found on the city’s website.

Earlier, a meeting of the District Crisis Management Team was held. The actions taken so far were summarized and the next stages of securing the fire site were discussed. An important topic was providing assistance to the injured.

Victims can benefit from comprehensive assistance: psychological, in obtaining access to medicines and the possibility of obtaining new documents or certificates on an urgent basis.

The Mazovian Voivode Mariusz Frankowski also announced that if the local government’s ability to provide support is exhausted, the city of Ząbki may apply to the government and the Government Agency for Strategic Reserves subordinate to the Ministry of Interior and Administration for assistance for the victims.

It is also possible to transfer resources from the governor's warehouse , which can be used to organize accommodation.

The report of a fire in a multi-family building in Ząbki was received by the State Fire Service on July 3, 2025 at 7:27 p.m. The first firefighters were on site 11 minutes later, then gradually joined by other Rescue and Firefighting Units, as well as Volunteer Fire Department units.

Engaged forces and resources at the culmination point:

• number of fire trucks: 45 (11 PSP and 34 OSP),
• number of tanks: 5 (3 PSP and 2 OSP),
• number of ladders/lifts: 8 (4 PSP and 4 OSP),
• number of other vehicles: 19 (17 PSP and 2 OSP),
• number of rescuers: 309 (113 State Fire Service and 196 Volunteer Fire Service).

The services' activities continued the next day.

As a result of the fire , the entire roof of the building and two-story apartments located on the 4th and 5th floors were burned down .
