300 PLN for school supplies. How and when to apply for "Good Start"?

From 1 July 2025, ZUS began accepting applications to establish the right to the "Good Start" benefit in connection with the start of the 2025/2026 school year.

The "Good Start" benefit is granted once a year for a child studying at school - until they reach the age of 20, and in the case of disabled children - until the age of 24.

To receive support, you must submit an application – this can be done by the mother, father, legal guardian or actual guardian (i.e. the person actually taking care of the child who has applied to the court for his or her adoption).

In the case of children in foster care, the application is submitted by the foster parent, the person running the family children’s home or the director of the care and educational facility.

The Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) is responsible for receiving applications, processing them and paying benefits.

- The "Good Start" program is an investment in the education of Polish children. It is PLN 300 of one-time support for all students starting the school year. Families will receive the benefit regardless of their income - we read on the website of the Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Policy.

Online applications can be submitted from July 1 to November 30 by:

Submitting an application in July or August guarantees payment of the benefit no later than September 30. If the application is submitted in subsequent months (in September, October or November), the support will reach the family within 2 months of submitting the application.

The Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy also informs: the Good Start benefit is not available to children attending kindergarten or children completing one year of kindergarten preparation in the so-called reception class in kindergarten or school.

The Good Start program also does not cover students.
