A cosmic achievement! Three world records in five days

Canadian swimmer Summer McIntosh set a world record in the 400-meter medley with a time of 4:23.65. The 18-year-old improved her own time from last year by 0.73 during the national qualification for the world championships. It is her third world record in the event.

Earlier in the day at the Victoria swimming pool, McIntosh swam the 400m freestyle in a time of 3:54.18, bettering the time set by Australian Ariarne Titmus two years ago by more than a second, and also took away the 10-year-old record held by Hungarian Katinka Hosszu in the 200m individual medley, with a time of 2:05.70.

Despite her young age, McIntosh is already a three-time Olympic gold medalist from Paris - in the 200 m butterfly and 200 m and 400 m individual medley, as well as a four-time world champion - in the 200 m butterfly and 400 m individual medley in Budapest (2022) and in Fukuoka (2023).

The World Championships in Singapore will take place from July 11 to August 3.
