Mboko dominated the match from the outset. The Canadian broke her opponent in the first game. Gauff was unable to stop the 18-year-old, who was playing brilliantly that day, losing the first set 1-6. The second set also didn't go the American's way. Although this part of the match was much more competitive, Mboko ultimately triumphed 6-4, securing her place in the next round in 63 minutes.
The Canadian's next opponent will be Spain's Jessica Bouzas Maneiro. Will Mboko cause another sensation and secure a spot in the semifinals of the event in Montreal?
