Basketball. King checks in to quarterfinals

King's basketball players rehabilitated themselves for four defeats at the end of the regular season. In the play-in series match, they crushed Śląsk Wrocław and registered for the final play-offs through the back door. Here, on Wednesday, the team from Szczecin will face a rematch of last year's final with Trefl Sopot in the quarterfinals.
King Szczecin - Śląsk Wrocław 91:74 (17:21, 28:19, 20:14, 26:20)
King: Dziewa 26, Whitehead 14, Woodard 13, Novak 12, Meier 8, Kostrzewski 6, Nicholson 5, Żołnierewicz 4, Lee 3, Brenk 0
King, due to the unavailability of Netto Arena, had to play its Saturday match in the old hall on Twardowskiego Street. The facility, which King last visited in 2021, turned out to be lucky. The Polish vice-champions confidently defeated Śląsk and in four days they will start fighting for the Orlen Basket League medals.
The first quarter of the match was still dictated by Śląsk, but from the second half King was unstoppable. The highlight of the match were the double plays of Novak and Dziewa. King's playmaker recorded 14 assists and hit all 5 shots, and Dziewa scored 26 points playing with a sensational efficiency of 73 percent. King played sensationally in defense for the first time in several weeks, and also collected 16 more rebounds than his opponents.
King will start fighting for Orlen Basket League medals in Sopot on Wednesday. In the quarterfinals, they will meet Trefl, to whom they lost the Polish championship a year ago after exciting finals. Śląsk did not ruin their chances for the play-offs either, and on Monday they will play for the last free place in the quarterfinals with Polski Cukier Toruń.
