Basketball. There's a new coach - King is betting on Majcherek

After parting ways with the previous coach Arkadiusz Miłoszewski, King Szczecin was looking for a new coach for just a week. The president and owner of the club, Krzysztof Król, chose Maciej Majcherek. The previous assistant of Arkadiusz Miłoszewski officially became the head coach of King Szczecin.
- I am very excited about my new role in the club. I have a huge challenge ahead of me to meet the expectations of the president and our fans. I am aware that after a few good years at King Szczecin, the season has come, which was not successful. In the upcoming competitions, we will try to fight for the highest goals. I would like to thank the president Krzysztof Król for believing in me and giving me such a chance. I would like to thank my family for their great support. Of course, I had to think it all over, but there was only one choice: I wanted to lead the Szczecin team. Szczecin is my home, and you take care of your home as best you can. I will do everything to make Szczecin proud of our team - says Maciej Majcherek.
King's new coach is a Szczecin native through and through, and has always been associated with our city. He has gone through all levels of Szczecin basketball. He has been a player in various entertainment classes, a youth coach, and an assistant in the Ekstraklasa. He knows the club, its structure, the atmosphere in the locker room, the needs of the players, and the expectations of the fans. He knows what King means to Szczecin and, above all, he enjoys Krzysztof Król's great trust. Just a week ago, Maciej Majcherek said he was not ready to take over the position, especially after the last unsuccessful season. President Krzysztof Król, although he was looking for a foreign coach, kept trying to convince Majcherek.
- I am very happy that Maciek decided to accept the offer. We have been waiting for this for a long time, but the moment has come. I believe that Maciej Majcherek will do well in this position. For many years he was an assistant to experienced coaches, he gathered knowledge. It is time to put it into practice - says the president of Kinga Szczecin, Krzysztof Król.
As an assistant coach, Maciej Majcherek made his debut in the staff of coach Mindaugas Budzinauskas. At that time, he played the role of a "playing assistant". In 2020, Majcherek ended his playing career and became an assistant under coach Łukasz Biela. During that season, he was also an assistant under coach Jesus Ramirez, who is currently the coach of Basketball Löwen Braunschweig and was chosen the coach of the year in the German league. During the last four seasons, he was an assistant to coach Arkadiusz Miłoszewski. Under the leadership of these two coaches, Miłoszewski and Majcherek, King Szczecin achieved the greatest successes in its history: the Polish championship, the Polish vice-championship and the Polish Super Cup. Maciej Majcherek was also an assistant to coach Arkadiusz Miłoszewski in the Polish U20 national team at the European Championship in 2024.
Coach Maciej Majcherek has five games under his belt as the head coach of the Orlen Basket Liga. After Łukasz Biela resigned in the 2020/2021 season, he was the head coach of King for several weeks.
Maciej Majcherek will be the fourth coach in King's history who, having previously served as an assistant in the Ekstraklasa, will be given the chance to sail into the open waters. It was in Szczecin that Marek Łukomski, Łukasz Biela and Arkadiusz Miłoszewski made their debuts on King's bench in recent years. (woj)
