Football. Grosik ends his international career in a win over Moldova

Poland won against Moldova in a friendly football match, which took place at the Silesian Stadium in Chorzów. Goals: Matty Cash (30), Bartosz Slisz (88). Referee: David Dickinson (Scotland). Kamil Grosicki, who last played for the Polish national football team, played in the match. The experienced winger left the pitch in the 32nd minute of the match.
Just before the playing of the anthems and the referee’s first whistle, the player was thanked for playing in the national team by the president of the Polish Football Association, Cezary Kulesza.
In the 32nd minute, right after Matty Cash scored a goal for Poland, Grosicki was replaced on the pitch by Karol Świderski. When "Grosik" was leaving the pitch, the fans clapped and chanted "thank you". The player covered the last meters to the sideline in a line formed by his teammates from the national team and members of the white-and-red training staff.
Grosicki made his debut for the national team on February 2, 2008 in a friendly match against Finland (1:0). He played a total of 95 matches for the national team, scoring 17 goals and providing 24 assists. He participated in three European Championships (2012, 2016, 2024) and two World Cups (2018, 2022).
"Every training camp and every match was a great honor and pride for me. I will definitely remember the farewell match for the rest of my life," said "Grosik" at a press conference held on Thursday.
He announced his retirement from playing in the national team during last year's European Championship in Germany.
"It was a well-considered decision. I first informed coach Michał Probierz about it. Everything comes to an end and - like the song says - 'you have to know when to leave the stage'. I left after the European Championship. I trained hard this season to be able to show my best side in the farewell match. My beautiful story has ended, but I hope that on Friday I will show something cool to the fans," the footballer announced.
Grosicki will celebrate his 37th birthday on Sunday. Despite this, he is still one of the best players in the Ekstraklasa. Last season, he played 39 matches in all competitions for Pogoń Szczecin, scoring 10 goals and providing 15 assists.
