The 12th Polish Old Boys' Championship in 6-a-side football named after Tomasz Wiejacha took place in Sosnowiec, and as many as 28 teams took part in the prestigious tournament, among which the old boys of Pogoń Szczecin, playing under the banner of Portowcy Stars, once again achieved success, winning the gold medal after an exciting final ending with a penalty shootout.
The Szczecin team finished the group stage in first place, then defeated Cracovia Kraków 3:1 in the quarter-finals, won against Nestovia Tarnów 3:2 in the semi-finals, and in the finals drew 3:3 with Wicher Kobyłka in regular time, to win the Polish championship in penalties after winning 2:1. Mariusz Giergiel was chosen the best goalkeeper of the tournament, who, despite being 52 years old, still impresses with his goalkeeping skills as in his younger years. During the finals, he defended several penalties and contributed significantly to winning another Polish championship by the old boys from Pogoń.
- As always, we take the championship games very seriously and we are happy with the well-deserved victory, and our team prepared for the tournament in Sosnowiec, among other things, by taking part in the Memorial of my father, Stefan "Gadocha" Moskalewicz, which took place two weeks earlier in my hometown of Świdwin - said Olgierd Moskalewicz. - However, the gold medal is not only the merit of the players, because many devoted friends helped us in the preparations, the trip and on site in Sosnowiec, and we experienced kindness from many companies. So we would like to thank the top league Pogoń Szczecin, and special words of appreciation are due to the president of Kinga Szczecin, Krzysztof Król, who not only lent us a bus to transport our basketball players playing in the Orlen Basket League throughout the season and thanks to this provided us with comfortable travel conditions, but also supported us personally in Sosnowiec. We would also like to thank the following companies: KOŁ-BUD, ELJOT, ELBUD, Silo-Trans, Kontener-Serwis, EKO-MARMAX, Pizzeria Toni Pepperoni Apartament Hansa Tower, Kaleo, SB BETTING SOFTWARE and Padel Club, which supported us in organizing our stay at the tournament.
